Garrard County Redraws Magisterial Lines

If you thought the census only conjured up new Congressional and legislative district lines, think again. There's a committee in Garrard County that will work on redrawing magisterial districts that will be based on the census. The county's budget follows the current lines, and so far, it looks good for county taxpayers. They won't pay anymore in taxes than they have since the last census, and that's eight cents per 100 dollars of assessed property value. Judge-Executive John Wilson said that if may be a bit tighter than in the past, but he said, its a budget that works. Garrard County's total budget for fiscal 2011 is 6.6 million dollars, down about a million and a half from fiscal 2010. And back to that map...its up to the committee to decide if the county needs three, or seven, or the five magistrates they've had for years.
