Hot enough for ya? The heat can be annoying, but it can also be dangerous. As of yesterday, the extreme heat had killed a total of 22 people nationwide. Danville Fire Chief Woody Ball says if you get slightly dizzy or nauseous, you may need medical attention.

And the key is water… coffee, tea and those sports drinks are no substitute and can cause worse problems. Finally, check on your neighbors... the very young and the elderly are especially vulnerable to the heat.

Crop Reporting Time is Here

The Stanford FSA Service Center is currently taking crop acreage reports.
Producers are urged to report their crops to FSA to have a record of plantings on
file for future disaster programs.

A full cropland acreage report is REQUIRED for farms that are participating
in the Direct and Countercyclical Program (DCP) otherwise known as the Corn
Program; and producers who may be requesting Loan Deficiency Payments
(LDP) or Commodity Loan on 2011 crops; and acreages covered by NAP policy.

Final reporting date for Burley, Corn, Soybeans, and all other crops except small
grains is July 15, 2011. Reports filed after the deadline will be considered late-
filed and will be charged for measurement services. The minimum charge
for any services performed is $46.00 per farm. If the total time for the service
exceeds 1 hour, additional charges will be assessed at the rate of $8.50 per ½
hour. (Fees are determined by the KY State FSA Committee.)

Avoid paying late charges. As soon as you finish planting your crops, come in
and make your crop report. If you have any questions concerning acreage reports,
please contact the Stanford FSA Service Center at (606) 365-2588 or toll free at
1-888-758-6910.

Yard Sale Signs Are Out Of Control In Danville

Signs, Signs…everywhere signs. Danville Code Enforcement Officer Tom Broach says, when it comes to yard sales, enough is enough. The code will now be strictly enforced.

Broach says offenders face a verbal or even written warning if signs are placed on light poles, in the right of way or down the street from the sale. And, in some cases, Broach says, offenders could even face a fine.

KY Property Taxes Same in 2011 as in 2010

Property taxes are holding steady in Kentucky. The Department of Revenue says the property tax rate for 2011 is 12.2 cents for every 100 dollars of assessed value, the same as it was in 2010. That means that if you own a 100 thousand dollar house, your property tax is 122 dollars a year, just like last year. The state determines the tax rate based on how much the property values go up and down, and the state says they haven't moved much at all from last year's levels. State officials say they gain less from property taxes than they do from sales and income taxes.

KY Woman Killed In Ireland

A Washington County woman's son says his mother was killed as she vacationed in Ireland last Saturday. Reports also indicate that 57 year old Jena Hill of Springfield was with a group of tourists who were staying at the Killarney Valley Hotel in Fossa when she was hit by a truck as she stood on a beach there. Authorities said the truck was backing up, and the driver apparently didn't see Hill. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say the three were also intoxicated. They arrested 30-year-old Edward Sneed of Somerset, 25-year-old William Bailey of Bronston and 28-year-old Jessica Diskey of Somerset on meth related and other charges.

Victim Recovering, Suspect Could Soon Be Arrested

A Garrard County man's recovering from his injuries after he was hit by a truck on Sunday night. Garrard County Sheriff's Deputies are close to making an arrest in the case after some teens near the crash site helped out, and the driver returned, then fled again. Ed Alley and his wife Gail were walking on Cleo Avenue when the truck struck Ed, and then fled the scene. The teens came to the rescue when they heard Gail scream for help, got as much information as they could for police, and police say the suspect could soon be arrested, and face leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid.

Soldiers Training to Work in Iraqi Hotel

Usually, we tell you about soldiers who train in places like Camp Shelby in Mississippi or Camp Atterbury in Indiana before they head to Iraq. Right now, there's a group of soldiers training at a Louisville hotel. The Kentucky National Gard members are from Richmond, and will soon deploy to Iraq to check in and serve guests at a hotel. Some 13 hundred will deploy after training.

BG Commission Will Vote To Move Terrorist Trial

Bowling Green officials say they want two alleged Iraqi terrorists tried someplace other than Bowling Green. The city commission will vote tomorrow on a resolution that opposes having the trial there. Waad Ramadan Alwan and Mohanad Shareef Hammadi were arrested in Bowling Green in May. Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell said he also wants the two tried elsewhere.
