U.S. Marshals and regional law enforcement agencies joined up to make sure registered sex offenders were following the rules. The effort was called Operation Lincoln Trail... it took place on April 25th and 26th and included deputies and officers from Lincoln, Boyle, Mercer, Garrard, and other counties. They arrested 12 sex offenders who were either non compliant, or were in violation of terms of their release. Authorities are still searching for two people who are considered to be fugitives. During their checks, authorities found ten weapons at the home of a sex offender in Mercer County... most of them were hunting rifles and shot guns. In addition to those who were arrested, six sex offenders were accused of violating the social networking statute.
