A petition drive to dissolve the Pulaski County Public Library Taxing District has ended. The Commonwealth Journal says Barbara Sanders, who had been pushing the petition drive, has decided to end the effort, saying it might be unnecessary because of recent developments in the state legislature. Sanders had objected to the continued raising of taxes as voted on by the library board, which is appointed and not elected. State lawmakers are currently drafting legislation that would focus on special taxing districts.
